Yes. As soon as MHL librarians place an order for any particular item, an item record appears in our local catalog allowing patrons to place a hold. In other words, as soon as it appears in our catalog, even if the item is not yet on hand (and still in the "being acquired" status), you may place a hold. Here is an example of a video game that has not yet been released, but is already on order. The library has placed an order for it, so there is a catalog record stating that the item is being aquired by the library and offering a PLACE HOLD option in the upper right hand corner.
